It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Murray Feingold.

Dr. Feingold was not only the founder of The Genesis Foundation for Children, but also the guiding light and inspiration to its staff and all who came in contact with this extraordinary institution. His passing leaves us grief- stricken but more determined than ever to carry on the work to which he dedicated his life.

Already a renowned pediatrician specializing in birth disorders and genetic diseases, Dr. Feingold identified and filled the need for prompt, accurate diagnoses and the seamless coordination of the cases of children who required the care of multiple specialists. He was also determined to make such care available to all families, regardless of their ability to pay. So in 1982, he founded The Genesis Fund, now known as The Genesis Foundation of Children, to meet those needs. Since then, more than 60,000 patient visits have taken place under its auspices.

The Foundation supports other programs, such as Therapy and the Performing Arts, enabling patients to enjoy a variety of therapeutic, recreational activities, such as horseback riding and sailing. And thirty years ago, Dr. Feingold established the Pregnancy Exposure InfoLine to provide free, confidential information for women about environmental exposures that could have adverse effects on their pregnancies. To this day, that service is still available free of charge.

Dr. Feingold used his own celebrity as a television and radio medical analyst to recruit many other well-known figures, including John Havlicek, Carl Yastrzemski, Natalie Jacobson, and Jack Williams to support the cause of The Genesis Foundation for Children and to raise public awareness of it.

None of this would have happened without Dr. Feingold's dedication and determination. He made a profound difference in the quality of life of thousands of patients and their families. They and the countless friends, supporters, employees, and volunteers who were privileged to know Dr. Murray Feingold will miss him dearly.

If you would like to send a sympathy card to the Feingold family, please send it to The Genesis Foundation for Children, 1347 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Waltham, MA 02451. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Feingold’s family has asked that you make a donation in his memory to The Genesis Foundation for Children.

Thank you for your good wishes and respecting the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.
